Short answer is no, api classifications are backwards compatible i think you might find it hard to find an sf,sg,sh or even an sj rated oil sl was a classification released in 2001 so if they recommend sf,sg,sh,sj, and sl then sm or sn or the next one which i believe is sn plus should be ok. Half of ur comment is correct dat 5w20 is not to be used, but recommending api sg or sj is wrong. Use any 10w40 oil with api sm or sn. I would personally recommend zic a.
What say @ahmedraja1996 @nightshade. Api sm and sn are fuel conserving grades. The “s” series is composed of sa, sb, sc, sd, se, sf, sg, sh, sj, sl, sm and sn. Sn oils provide higher levels of performance than all the other “s” oils. Api categories sa through sh are obsolete, and oils labelled sn can be used in their place. All ultra multigrade gasoline engine oils meet the highest api specification (api sn. In this case, you need api sl, so an api sj, lower, cannot be good. Sm and sn supersedes sl so both oils can be used. Can i use sj oil instead of sf?
